Data and methodology
k-check.ch compares public health insurance premiums and shows how they change. The personal comparison, regional tables and PrämienStripes answer different questions.
Data sources and currency
The comparison uses imported public premium data from the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH). The premium year is shown with the results. It indicates tariff validity, not an editorial review date. The data is not a personal quote; check the insurer’s conditions before switching.

The import date is the last fully completed data import for the stated premium year. No date is estimated for older imports without a record. Past premium years are labelled historical; future premium years only apply from the stated start of the year.

Data and methodology
Personal comparison
Available tariffs are selected by residence and premium region, year of birth, deductible, insurance model and accident cover. For several people, an offer must match everyone selected. Unavailable or ambiguous data is not treated as a valid zero price.
Results are sorted by the calculated premium. A selected current insurer serves as the reference for displayed differences. Advertising is not part of this ranking. Equal statutory benefits do not mean equal model conditions: check the first point of contact, doctor choice and procedures with the insurer.
Place pages and cantonal rankings
Place pages combine example profiles by age group and deductible. They cover one person without accident cover and use the first age subgroup. Use the personal comparison for your exact year of birth. Several places may share a premium region and therefore show the same values.
Cantonal rankings show the lowest premium found per insurer for the stated profile. These minima can come from different premium regions and are not a promise for your residence. Monthly premiums multiplied by twelve give the annual premium; deductible and coinsurance are additional.
PrämienStripes and historical averages
Regional time series use averages of available tariffs, without weighting by the number of policyholders. Stripes use the profile stated beside the chart. Place charts use their premium region’s values. Changes in the available tariff range affect the average in addition to price changes.
